England wrapped up a 4-1 series win over India with victory at the Oval, but which players shone brightest for each side, and who was found wanting?


Alastair Cook

He came good, yet again, at the end of a torrid series as the Oval match-winner. He also caught well and proved his reflexes are still intact. If he campaigns against plastic like David Attenborough, he too will be a national treasure. 7

Keaton Jennings

He went nowhere, either in the crease or his career, because he kept making the same mistakes. Too static and statuesque in the field as well. Even after making allowances for conditions biassed in favour of bowlers, he will be lucky to tour. 4
