About Me
Hi, I’m Lynn.
I have been a school teacher for many years and have been playing piano accordion for over 20 of those years after teaching myself on an old 12 button squeezebox loaned to me by a friend.
It all began one day when the children I was teaching wanted to perform a couple of songs in a school assembly. A colleague suggested I try accompanying them on one of his old accordions. He showed me a few basic chords, then left me with a simple book of instructions and let me get on with it! It took me only a couple of weeks to learn to play a few songs and we happily performed at the assembly.
After that I was hooked! I gradually learned more and more, borrowed a 24 bass accordion from the same friend, then a few months later I bought a second hand full sized accordion.
I have since had other accordions and have had great fun playing to accompany people singing, as part of folk bands and ceilidh bands and even a bit of busking with a friend.
For me, there is great pleasure and satisfaction in making music with other people. I love entertaining people and the great feeling of community that joint music making encourages.
I have enjoyed starting to collect my own tips and accordion articles to share with you and others who are thinking of starting to learn to play the piano accordion.
I hope you find this site useful and encouraging - and I wish you great success and fun with your own accordion adventures.
